Why upholster old instead of buying new?
A well-made frame is worth keeping. Reupholstery gives the furniture you love a new life: restore its backbone, replace worn fabric and padding, or redesign an antique piece for the way you live today.
Keeping a piece in use longer helps reduce furniture waste. You keep its character and choose the fabric, comfort and details to suit your home — instead of starting over with a replacement.
Since 2005, Ken's Upholstery has served homes and businesses across Philadelphia, Delaware County and Montgomery County, with one craftsman caring for each project from measurement to final stitch.
"Upholstering extends the lifespan of furniture, making it the sustainable and cost-effective choice."
Materials matter, too.
Some furniture made with pressed-wood products can release formaldehyde, a volatile organic compound (VOC). Glues, finishes and other furnishing materials can emit VOCs too. Read EPA's formaldehyde guidance and its guide to VOCs.
The materials used in a restoration matter as well. Ask us about natural latex foam, organic cotton or wool batting, and low-VOC options for your project.
